WEEK 10

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this week :) It's an exciting week, our baby is the size of a small plum! Its no longer an embryo but a fetus. It's neat to think that the baby is already kicking its tiny little legs!
On Tuesday I had my first prenatal massage it was so nice! You lie on your side and they tuck all these pillows everywhere! aaahhhhh.. relax!

This week signals the end of the "embryonic stage" and the start of the "fetal period." And with it comes rapid growth spurts. The good news is that the critical stage of development is over, and there is very little risk of developing congenital malformations from this point on. That doesn't mean you still don't have to be careful. Exposure to certain drugs, x-rays, alcohol, cigarette smoke, or even stress can still cause your baby harm.

This is the first week that your baby's weight is substantial enough to be measured! Still, he or she is tiny, weighing about 5 grams (0.18 ounces).
About the size of a small plum, your baby is between 1.25 inches and 1.75 inches (4.4 cm) long.

it's busily swallowing and kicking. Each day more minute details start to appear, such as fingernails and peach-fuzzy hair
The vital organs -- the liver, kidneys, intestines, brain, and lungs -- are fully formed and functional, while the head is almost half the length of the entire body. The forehead temporarily bulges and sits high on the head, but later will change into a more human-like feature.

If you could take a look at your baby this week, you'd be able to see the clear outline of his spine. Spinal nerves stretch out from the spinal cord.

Your uterus is now the size of a grapefruit. With the help of a Doppler, a hand-held soundwave stethoscope, you can hear the fetus's rapid heartbeat -- one expectant mother likened it to the sound of tiny horses galloping
